Extension Agent, Agriculture and Natural Resources
In her role as Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension Agent, Rebekah Slabach consults with producers and homeowners about crop diagnostics and livestock management. She also helps assist with services including farm planning, enterprise management, and agribusiness opportunities.
Rebekah was born and raised in Halifax County on a small family farm. She was a member of 4-H while growing up, showing sheep beginning at age 5 and later cattle while participating in county livestock shows. A dedicated and involved FFA member, she also deferred a year of college to travel and serve as a state FFA officer for Virginia. Other opportunities, like Envirothon and Youth Conservation Camp through the Halifax Soil and Water Conservation District, afforded her knowledge of protecting natural resources, an very important part of agriculture. At Virginia Tech, she was active in Alpha Zeta Agricultural Honors Fraternity, Block and Bridle, and Agriculture Future of America. Rebekah completed a summer extension internship as well as gaining experience in various other opportunities in the agriculture industry.
